1910 Grand Final

In pouring rain Wilson won the toss and gave Frankston first use of the strong wind. The umpire surprised the players by making a ring in the centre to keep the area clear, this was the first time that it had been used inthis league. Players were eager and they pounced at the contest and whilst the ball was dry some good play was noted with Jolly marking for the first sixer then O’Neill got their second. The style of play was mainly kicking the ball off the ground in the pouring rain, Wilson and Robinson got goals as Hastings clawed their way back by half time. Players were muddy to the core and huddled around each other in the break, thered and blacks lucky to have a marquee brought down by a supporter. The rain became heavier and this seemed to suit Hastings as they adapted better and they denied the ball to Frankston before finally Harley snapped up and evened the scores at the last break. The last term was just a scramble with no player really identifiable in the mud and murky conditions as the game did not start till 3.10 pm. When the siren sounded it was over and Hastings had won their third straight Premiership.
