FOOTBALL FOR YOUTH
A Mornington Peninsula Social Football League has been formed in an effort to revive football on the Peninsula, and it is hoped to field at least six teams. One of the main difficulties appears to be a matter of umpires. Anyone keen to help the game along in this matter would be extremely welcome. The secretary (Mr W. McKinnon, c/o Dyson’s Peninsula Buses) would be pleased to hear from any volunteers
Football became very much part of the war effort with games played to lift the spirits of those at home and raised funds to support the troops.
Five local clubs, Somerville, Balnarring, Navy, Frankston and Mornington came together to form the Mornington Peninsula Social Football League and arranged a competition of 16 rounds and then a finals series.
